PAPEL DEL CATÉTER PLEURAL TUNELIZADO EN EL MANEJO DEL DERRAME PLEURAL MALIGNO

El derrame pleural maligno es una causa frecuente de derrame pleural en nuestro medio y su presencia tiene importantes implicaciones pronósticas a corto-medio plazo. Su abordaje terapéutico está relacionado con la sintomatología que provoca en el paciente y con el pronóstico estimado. El catéter pleural tunelizado ha surgido en los últimos años como una alternativa terapéutica domiciliaria para los pacientes con derrame pleural maligno sintomático. Aportamos una breve revisión sobre este tipo de dispositivo, sus indicaciones, evidencia clínica y posibles complicaciones.
