La Enfermedad Inflamatoria Pélvica (EIP) es un gran desafío clínico. Tiene alta prevalencia en mujeres en edad fértil y es de máxima repercusión personal, familiar y socioeconómica, por las complicaciones que acarrea a medio y largo plazo, debidas a su retraso diagnóstico terapéutico. Dada la gran variabilidad clínica en cuanto a su presentación y su baja sospecha diagnóstica inicial, es imprescindible en el diagnóstico diferencial del dolor abdominal en mujeres sexualmente activas.
